A 20-year-old Senegalese national was recently charged with stealing. The case came up before Travelling Magistrate Amadou Baldeh of the Central River Region (CRR).
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused was alleged to have stolen at Murtabeh village on 3rd June this year a mobile phone from the shop of one Adama Jallow valued at D2500 as well as the sum of five hundred dalasis. He denied the charge.
In his testimony, the complainant admitting seeing the accused coming out of his shop with a carton containing a mobile phone and a cash sum of five hundred dalasis.
According to him, he was lying down outside his shop when he saw the accused with the carton and the mobile phone.
He added that the accused attempted to run away, but was overpowered by the people around, who then handed him over to the police.
