Put Faces Difficult Situation to Choose Squad

Senior national team Coach Paul Put will now face a difficult situation in making his final selection now that the players that were facing suspension are all cleared to play in the forthcoming game against the Fennecs of Algeria on Saturday.

 Gambia Striker Ousman Jallow who was given a red card in Gambia's game with Algeria in the Ghana 2008 qualifiers last year in Banjul is how legible to play against Algeria.

Jallow, is known to be a no nonsense striker and is always effective in terms to putting the ball in the net. He could  be what the team need in their quest to collect a possible three points on Saturday.

Gambia's Abdoulie Corr, alias Paco, Lamin Conateh "Babayeh" and Assan Jatta 'Bierhoff' are now free to play for Gambia following a suspension under the CAF disciplinary Board resulting in a ban on the players  for two games with their national teams.  These players according to CAF Disciplinary Committee, were involved in a quarrel and a catfight after The Gambia and Algeria match during preliminaries of the 26th African Cup of Nations, Ghana 2008 against Algeria played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Meniri Mahdi, Daha Noureddinne and Bougherra Madji  all  Algerian players were also facing the same  suspension and will be expected to be part of the Algerian team that will make it to Banjul.

The Gambia Football Association was also imposed a financial sanction of USD 10,000.00 for the unsporting behaviour of Gambian supporters, as well as the offensive behaviour of some of players.

A big challenge lies on Paul Put as these players are equally competent and could not have the opportunity to appear for the country in the Scorpions two appearances against the Lone Stars in Liberia and the Terenga Lions of Senegal.

Dawda Bah, another outstanding player who was nursing an injury and is also expected to be available for Saturday.
