Sierra Leone's President to Visit The Gambia

africa » gambia
Wednesday, July 09, 2008
The president of Sierra Leone will visit the West African Insurance Institute this Friday on their 30thAnniversary and graduation ceremony at their campus at Kotu/Manjai.

President Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, will visit serving as one of the guests of honour.

President Koroma was a recent guest of President Jammeh and his visit was an exemplary one compared with visits by other heads of state to the country. Thousands of Gambians, Sierra Leoneans and other nationals thronged the streets to wave and see him in the flesh.

President Koroma will come on Friday the 11thof July 2008 with his entourage and will attend the opening programme immediately after his arrival. A Banquet will be hosted in his honour and President Jammeh. They will be honoured at the Dinner which will mark the peak of his visit.

Different Sierra Leonean groups ranging from SLPP, APC, the Christian Association, Sierra Leone Muslim Jaamat and other viable groups will be represented at the Airport to receive His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma.

Meanwhile, according to news monitored on Sierra Leone News and the BBC, the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party has swept most of their strongholds and made gains in the All Peoples Congress Party's territories in the Local Government Elections held last weekend in the country. Many believe democracy has taken root in that country after their civil war but needs to be protected by the ruling APC party.
