Driver Sentenced for Causing Death

Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court had sentenced one Musa Mbye to serve 17 months in jail or an alternative of paying a D15,000 court fine.

Musa Mbye was found guilty of causing the death of one Awa Ceesay in an auto accident in EboTown. Musa knocked down Awa whilst driving a motor vehicle at an excessive speed and when a test was conducted on his vehicle, it was found out that the brake was ineffective.

He begged the court to forgive him as according to him, the family of the deceased ‘had already said they have forgiven me’.
