Youths in Court for Robbery with Violence

Modou Sanneh and Ebou Cham, were on 12th January 2009 arraigned before Magistrate Sagarr Jahateh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court charged with robbery with violence.

According to the particulars of the offence on 18th October 2008 at a street in Dippa-Kunda, the accused persons armed themselves with a knife and violently robbed one Fatou Cham of her mobile phone. They denied the charge.

1st Class 319 Daddy Jobe, the prosecuting officer applied to the court to refuse the accused person bail, as robbery is a capital offence. He also applied to the court to make an order for the accused to be provided with a legal representation because of the nature of the charge.

Meanwhile the accused was being remanded in custody. The case was adjourned to 22nd January 2009.
