Youth & Sports Ministry to kick-start campaign for national teams outing

A rigorous campaign set for the participation of national teams at international outings will be spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The campaign will include the mobilisation of resources for the participation of The Gambia for the qualifiers of the African nations and the World Cup in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

Efforts to kick-start the campaign by the Ministry is expected to commence today in a press briefing and conference at the Independence Stadium VIP Lounge.

The Preliminary qualifiers of the 28th African Cup of Nations, to be jointly hosted by Gabon-Equatorial Guinee in 2012 has lined up The Gambia in Group F, alongside Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Namibia.

The Gambia's first outing will be in the first weekend of September when they meet Namibia in their first game in Banjul.
