Tuesday, June 02, 2009

World 11 FC on Saturday were crowned champions of the intermediate championship of the 2009 Fatoumatta Garba Jahumpa Ceesay's Perpetual Football Tourney, organised by Hajojara Sports Committee.

They defeated Kulukochi United FC 2-1 in a final played at the Gunjur Football Field. The match was characterised by spectacular display of skills. Kulukochi United FC opened the score in the 25 minute of the game through striker Kansidia Touray, while Ousman Bojang levelled the tally for World 11 FC in the 47 minute of the game. Kulukochi United fought back but was unable to contain World FC.

World 11 FC grabbed their winning from a brilliant free kick by striker Ousman Bojang in the dying minute of the game after striker Alagie Janneh was fouled on the edge of Kulukochi United 18-yard area.

As the champions, World 11 FC were bagged with giant trophy and a cash prize of D1,500.00, whilst Kulukochi United received D1,000.00 as the runners-up.

FJC was deputised at the final by Hon. Alagie Sillah Member of Parliament for Banjul North.
