The Jammeh Foundation Kafoo of Bundung Mauritania last Sunday adopted Modou Turo Darboe, a noted philanthropist and businessman, as their honorary brother. The same group also adopted his mother, Agie Amba Tiya Conteh as Yai Compin.

Modou Turo Darboe, whose NGO, Vision Development Foundation, has provided substantial assistance to over five hundred groups across the country and institutions, said he is motivated by President Jammeh's love to empower women of this country, adding that he will always be ready to complement government's efforts towards nation building.

Mr. Darboe advised the group to unite and engage in meaningful activities. He presented a cheque for D10, 000 to the kafoo on behalf of his NGO.

The Chairperson of the Kafoo, Adama Darboe, spoke on the background. She said the women through their self-help activities have extended help to members of the kafoo through the provision of soft loans.

The Attorney General and Secretary of State for Justice, Marie Saine-Firdaus, who led a high powered delegation comprising Jammeh Foundation board members on behalf of the Chairperson of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP), from which organisation the women kafoo derives its name, commended the women for naming the kafoo after Jammeh Foundation and gave the assurances of support in their drive to achieve their goals.

Other speakers included Yankuba Colley, Mayor of KMC, Hon. Fabakry Tombong Jatta, Member for Serrekunda East.
