One Bakary Nyass, a prosecution witness, recently testified in the trial involving one Foday Jawara, accused of assault causing actual bodily harm before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Nyass told the court that he is a taxi driver, and recognised the accused.

He recalled that on 27 September 2015, he met the accused at One Love Mini-Market opposite Tafbel Senegambia.

He said while he was entering the supermarket, the accused was coming out, and the accused pushed him and they fought.

The accused hit him with a bottle on his head, as a result of which he sustained injuries on his head and shoulder.

He added that military officers on duty at the place came and arrested both of them, and they were taken to Kotu Police Station, where his statement was recorded.

He was later referred to Serrekunda Police Station, from where he was escorted to Serrekunda hospital where he was treated.

The case was adjourned to 2 November 2015.
