In their bid to help further strengthen the country's health delivery system, the World Health Organization (WHO) country office recently donated medical items to the department of State for Health and Social Welfare.

The donated items include 35 blood pressure machines and surgical lamps among others.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the department's conference hall in Banjul, Dr.Thomas Sukwa, WHO country representative, expressed his delight in presenting the items on behalf of his organization. He assured the health department of his office's continued support. He expressed hope that the materials will be put to good use.

In receiving the items, Dr.Mariatou Jallow Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare thanked WHO for the gesture. She added that the items will go a long way in helping the health sector in their quest to offer quality health delivery to every Gambian.
