Friday, January 23, 2009
The Centre for Youth, Women and Child Development (CYWCD) will this Saturday embark on a marathon targeting needy students in junior secondary schools in the Greater Banjul Area.

In an interview with Pointsports yesterday, Korka Jallow, outreach and communication officer of the association, stated that the 'Run for Knowledge Marathon' is mainly targeting needy students from the junior secondary schools. The Marathon is to sponsor five students.

He pointed that they have written to the regional education office in region one to inform all the principals so that their student can take part in the competition.

He disclosed that the event is sponsored by the Plymouth Banjul Challenge and at the end of the run five winners will benefit from a one-year scholarship package

According to Jallow, the run will commence at 9am from the MDI main gate to The Gambia Red Cross office

The event is expected to be graced by officials from GAA, GNOC , Education and the National Youth Service Scheme among others
