The first vice president of the Bakau Zonal Sports Committee, Mr. Bakary B Darboe, has expressed optimism that the defending champions Bakau will surely beat Banjul and retain the zonal championship trophy.

Mr. Darboe made these remarks yesterday at his residence at Bakau Newtown.

He disclosed that preparations for the final are in high gear and he is impressed with the kind of performance his players are putting in on the training ground.

He further claimed that Banjul is not a problem to Bakau and expressed optimism that Bakau will beat Banjul at end of the 90 minutes. He hailed his coaching team for their hard work, dedication and commitment in taking the team to the final for the second time in a row.

According to Mr. Darboe, Banjul were lucky to beat Gunjur but Gunjur could have wan that match if they concentrated on their game last Saturday at Serrekunda East Mini Stadium in the first semi finals of the ongoing Baby Muhammed Yahya Jammeh's Super Nawettan competition.

"We have more experience and quality players than them so that is why I say we were going we will beat them and retained the trophy".

He urged the fans to maintain discipline and continue supporting the team in their endeavours to win the trophy and commended His Excellency Professor Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh for sponsoring the tournament. He said this would contribute immensely towards the improvement, promotion and development of Gambian sports particularly football.
