Wailers FC have registered their first victory in the 2011-2012 Serrekunda West Nawettan Season after beating Jeshwang United FC in a well-contested group A game played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.
Wailers FC’s only goal was scored by Saihou Sey in the 57th minute of the game, from a superb strike to give his side their first victory in the Serrekunda West Nawettan season, and also keep their hopes of making it to the second round of the Nawettan.
Wailers FC have now collected 4 points in four outings, with one more game to go; Jeshwang United FC collected 9 points in four games with a single game to go.
Speaking to Pointsport shortly after the game, Eugon Diethlm sponsor of Wailer FC who doubles as the General Manager Atlantic Hotel, said he sponsored the team because they are hard-working, and that they will work hard to provide more funds to support the team.
He expressed Atlantic Hotel’s readiness in supporting and contributing tireless towards the development of football in The Gambia, adding that football is the leading sports in the world, and he was impressed by the performance of Wailers FC.
The marketing manager Atlantic Hotel, Lamin Jammeh, said sponsoring Wailers FC is a way of developing and improving football in The Gambia, noting that the sponsorship package would go a long way in developing football in the country.
Jammeh urged other companies to come forward and render more support towards the development of football in The Gambia.
