The Gambia Volleyball Association (GBVA), as part of this year’s plans for their 2013 league, has extended the deadline for registration from 15 February to end of the month.

Clubs and interested institutions are now in the registration process for the National Volleyball League.

According to Musa Casa Taal, president of the GVBA, registration per team, institution or club is D2,000.

Affiliation fee per institution or club, he clarified, is D500, saying the league, as earlier stated, still stands on kick-starting in March 2013.

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) has donated volleyballs to them, he disclosed.

He also said the Gambia U- 20 volleyball team is currently undergoing intensive training for the upcoming continental Volleyball Championship, to be held in Tunisia, from 2 to 8 March 2013.

The team is set to leave for Tunisia at the end of the month and return on 9 March 2013, he said.

He stated further that they are still putting hands across for financial support because “the trip is very expensive”.

“The association is working on having a tour in April to have volleyball clinics in regions such as Lower River Region, Upper River Region, Central River Region, North Bank Region and possibly West Coast Region (Foni).

The clinic project is within their development strategic plan for 2013,” he said, adding: “It will be a training of trainers for Physical Education teachers and trainers.”
