The Vision Development Foundation (VDF), in partnership with Bokaloko Society in Holland, on Tuesday donated medical items to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital RVTH in Banjul and the Fajikunda Health Centre in the Kanifing Municipality.

The official handing-over, which took place at the VDF office in Tallinding, was witnessed by officials of the VDF and health personnel from the beneficiary institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Momodou Manta Jallow, National Coordinator of VDF, said he was very happy to deliver the medical items to the RVTH and Fajikunda Health Centre on behalf of the donors.

“I would also like to thank our partners in Netherlands, Holland, for sending us these items to help boost the health sector,” he said, adding that health is very important to the development of any society and nation.

Without health there will be no development, Mr Jallow said, adding that the donated items “will go a long way in helping the beneficiaries”, especially when they are put into good use.

“It is our collective responsibility to respond to this sector so that we will be able to achieve our aims and objectives in terms of national development,” he added.

“My organization has given a high priority to the health sector, education and agriculture because these are the key areas that can bring meaningful development to the nation,” he said.

In receiving the items on behalf of Fajikunda Health Centre, Metta Congira thanked VDF and their partners for the donation and express her appreciation about the gesture.

She said the items would go a long way in helping the health centres in the communities that benefited from the gesture.

Meanwhile, the donated items include pairs of uniform for nurses, bed sheets, plasters, dressing materials, lab material, syringes, gloves, blood and urine collector, X-Ray machine, films, theatre materials and an oxygen machine.
