Two Weeks for Mobile Phone Theft

africa » gambia
Monday, December 15, 2008

Mansour Bah, a Grade 12 student, was recently convicted and sentenced for stealing a mobile phone from the house of one Kaddy Sanyang in Sukuta village.

He was convicted and sentenced to two weeks' imprisonment with hard labour, following his own plea of guilty.

Narrating the facts in court, the police prosecutor, Sgt 553 Jammeh adduced that the incident happened on the 30th November 2008.

He told the court that the complainant, Awa Kujabi took her mobile phone for charging and when she sent her younger sister to go and collect it in the morning, the phone was nowhere to be found.

He said when Awa called her number it was received by one Foday who told her that the phone was found in possession of the accused. He said the accused was later arrested and taken to Yundum Police Station and subsequently charged accordingly.
