As usual, the Chief Executive Officer of Vision Development Foundation (VDF), Modou Turo Darboe, has commenced his Ramadan generosity by presenting Ramadan gifts to Muslims and non-Muslims in The Gambia, at his office in Churchill’s Town on a daily basis.

The presentation of the gifts to hundreds of needy Muslims is part of his annual Ramadan activities, geared towards helping the most vulnerable people to have daily meal during the holy month of Ramadan.

The humanitarian gesture is an annual activity by the VDF founder in the month of Ramadan by presenting gifts on a daily basis ranging from sugar, to rice, oil, physical cash, onion, potatoes, and other items, as it is a month of loving, caring and sharing among Muslims.

The latest to benefit from Mr Darboe’s benevolence were the NGOs and the private sector, as well as the needy.

Speaking to this reporter, Momodou Lamin Jagne, VDF programme officer, said the presentation of gifts to the needy is now a tradition for Mr Darboe, to help the less privileged or vulnerable people.

Mr Jagne spoke about the importance of helping the needy at this time of the month of Ramadan, saying the able-bodied should endeavour to help the less vulnerable people.

Therefore, he said, Mr Darboe coming up with “these bold initiatives is worthy of commendation, for his generosity and love for humanity.”

He said daily feeding is a major problem for some people, especially the needy, but “this small token would greatly ease that burden on them."

According to Binta Fatty, a beneficiary, since the Ramadan started, every day, she would receive some gifts from Mr Darboe to sustain the feeding of her family.

She said the intervention of Mr Darboe in providing food gifts to Muslims during Ramadan is a big relief for her, without which she would have found it very difficult to afford her daily survival, particularly in this holy month.

Also speaking, one Kaddy Marong, a resident of Tallinding, spoke at length about the difficulty she faces in Ramadan in terms of daily feeding.

She said the daily intervention in providing Ramadan gifts by Mr Darboe is a welcome move as the Almighty Allah appreciates it.

“The month is a sharing and caring month, which means the rich should help the most vulnerable ones to have their daily meal,” she added.

One Lamarana Jallow, who was also a beneficiary of the daily Ramadan gifts, also expressed total appreciation about the gesture, saying she had been receiving such gifts from Turo Darboe.

She thanked Mr Darboe for his generosity, especially in the Ramadan month, in helping the needy, saying the Almighty Allah would reward him for his deed.
