The Tujereng league Nawettan organised by the Village youth and sports development committee commenced last week at the Tujereng football field.

The opening match for the seniors was between Jungle Tigers and Chelsea, which Chelsea won by 2-0.

Speaking in an interview with Pointsports, the Chairman of the Tujereng youth and development Committee, Inspector Bai Ensa Jawara, stated that the aim of the tournament is to select a village town team at the end of the competition.

He added that the tournament would feature eight teams at the senior level and six teams for the junior. It is worth noting that both tournaments are going ahead concurrently.

Mr Jawara pointed out that the Secretary of State for Interior, Hon Ousman Sonko, will sponsor the leading goal scorer of the tournament and the most disciplined team noting that the tournament will last for four months.

He also seized the opportunity to thank the Inspector General of Police Essa Badjie and the SOS for the Interior Ousman Sonko for their support towards the development of sports in Tujereng and the village youth and sport association public to emulate the two personalities and support the young association.
