Trial of alleged homosexual commences in chambers

The trial involving Momarr Sowe accused of engaging in homosexual acts yesterday commenced in chambers before Justice Abi of the Banjul High Court.

The trial Judge, Justice Abi, on 24 February 2015 ruled that the witnesses would testify in chambers following the application made by state counsel A.M. Yusuph to protect their identity, as they are state security officials.

The particulars of offence in count one stated that Momarr Sowe, sometime in 2002 at Brusubi in the West Coast region, conspired with Modou Lamin Conateh to engage in homosexual acts.

Count two stated that Momarr Sowe, at Brusubi in the West Coast Region, conspired with Modou Lamin Conateh to engage in homosexual acts.

Count three stated that Momarr Sowe, sometime in 2003 at Lugis Restaurant in Palma KMC and elsewhere, conspired with Kebba Ceesay to engage in homosexual acts.

Count four stated that Momarr Sowe, in 2003 at diverse places in The Gambia and elsewhere, conspired with Iker Nyan to engage in homosexual acts.

The case continues.
