Tough fixtures in FA Cup Round 16

Current league leaders Steve Biko have drawn against Bakau United in an all-Bakau derby game in the round sixteen clashes.

Both sides share the spoils in the first round of the country’s top tier league.

Another derby will see second tier side Banjul United meet with reigning league champions Real De Banjul in an all-Banjul affair.

The draw for the round sixteen of the 2013 Gambia Football Association FA Cup Competition was held at the Gambia Football Association secretariat in Kanifing Layout on Friday.

Lamin United will also rub shoulders with Serrekunda United.

Lamin United and Serrrekunda also drew in the first round of the second division matches and are all with 11points each in ten games.

Last year’s runners-up Interior will play against Hawks.

Interior were the runners-up of last season after losing to Gamtel 3-0 in the final, while Hawks were eliminated in the early part of the FA Cup competition last season.

Samger will entertain Seaview. Both sides are currently struggling at the top tier and hope for a win to keep their hopes of clinching the trophy.

Gambia Ports Authority will take on current FA Cup champions Gamtel.

Gambia Ports Authority lost to Gamtel in the FA Cup final in 2011and will be hoping for a revenge this season.

Gamtel have won the FA Cup three consecutive times in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and lost to Young Africans in FA Cup final on penalties, after goalless in regulation time, in the 2009 edition.

Bombada United will meet 2009 FA Cup winners Young Africans, while West Coast Region outfit Brikama United will face Armed Forces.

The round sixteen ties will play on 22 and 23 May 2013. Quarterfinal, semi-final and final will be played in June 2013.
