Theft at Sankung Sillah & Sons

One Halima Sillah who does business with Sankung Sillah & Sons Ltd was recently arraigned before Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court on count charges of giving false information and stealing.

According to the charge sheet on count one, on 15thDecember 2008, the accused told the police that she was robbed of D450, 000 which information she knew was false.

While on count two, she was charged with stealing the sum of D450, 000 being money belonging to Sankung Sillah & Sons Company Limited. She pleaded guilty to both counts.

According to the facts of the case as narrated by the prosecuting officer Sub-Inspector Fadara, the accused who does business with Sankung Sillah & Sons claimed that she was robbed off the money by a taxi driver. He said the police launched an investigation into the allegation but found that the allegation was false. He said the police investigation also led them to the recovery from the accused the sum of D242, 000 from her house.

The case was adjourned until 6thJanuary 2009 for judgement.
