Testimony heard in common assault case

The Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently heard testimony on common assault case involving one Modou Sonko.

Isatou Manneh testified as the first prosecution witness, telling the court that on 14 March 2012, when she left her compound to go to the market she met with one Mariama Kinteh standing on the road with one boy.

She said she stood waiting for Mariama for them to go to the market, adding that while they were standing, the accused came and pulled the boy’s hand, who was standing with Mariama.

According to the witness, the accused asked the boy why he was standing with them and started to insult. She said she decided to go back home but the accused followed her with insult.

Her husband, she explained, advised her to report the matter to the police, which she did.

The case was then adjourned till 28 May 2012.
