Tertiary students learn research proposal writing

Research students from various tertiary institutions on Saturday participated in a capacity building workshop on research proposal writing; data analysis and report writing.

The 2014 capacity building workshop, was organized by the Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa, ERNWACA Gambia chapter, and funded by their Swedish partners through their regional office in Bamako.

ERNWACA is a network of researchers in 18 countries in Africa, both English and French-speaking, and has a regional office in Bamako.

The selected students came from the University of The Gambia, UTG, the Management Development Institute, MDI and the Gambia Technical Training Institute, GTTI.

They were assisted in the training exercise by various supervisors, to prepare their proposals set to be submitted from now up to April 12.

The training program was held at the ERNWACA Gambia chapter office in Bakau.

This training session was one of a series of capacity building workshops held, said the national coordinator of the ERNWACA Gambia-chapter, Makaireh Alieu Njie, meant to develop the capacities of young Gambian researchers in the area of educational research.

In his presentation on “How to Write a Research Proposal”, Dr. Kenneth O Igharo of the UTG, took the participants through the steps of drafting a research proposal.
