Svieing Anderson, a Swedish national was recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' Court for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence, a charge he vehemently denied.
According to the particulars of offence, in the month of March 2009, at Batokunku village, Kombo South, Western Region, the accused Svieing Anderson obtained the sum of D300, 000 from one Idrisa Jammeh for the puchase of a piece of land.
Meanwhile, the police prosecutor, Cadet ASP Samateh urged the court not to grant the accused bail on the grounds that he may likely abscond.
Magistrate Emmanuel Amadi overruled the prosecution's objection and subsequently granted the accused bail in the sum of D300, 000 with one Gambian surety, who must have a passport and ID card.
