Supreme Court Hears Lai Conteh Appeal Case

africa » gambia
Tuesday, November 25, 2008
The five-member panel of judges of the Supreme Court of The Gambia yesterday heard the criminal appeal case filed by Abdoulie Conteh against the State.

During yesterday's session the applicant Counsel Antuman Gaye informed the panel that they have been served with the notice of preliminary objection by the State respondent. He said they would be filling the necessary application to comply with the rules.

However the panel later informed the applicant Counsel that the state had filed a notice that all cases involving the Attorney General should be adjourned until the 2nd December 2008.

The applicant, Abdoulie Conteh, is appealing at the Supreme Court against the Court of Appeal decision which had overturned his acquittal by the High Court.
