Sierra Leone top Northwest Africa cricket tourney

Sierra Leone are currently leading the table of the first edition of the Northwest Africa female cricket tournament being hosted by The Gambia.

Sierra Leone have collected a maximum of 12 points after winning their opening 4 games of the competition.

The Gambia, the host, are currently second with 9 points from 4 encounters.

Ghana are third with 3 points in 4 games while Mali are bottom without a point in 4 outings.

On Monday 2 Novemberber 2015, Sierra Leone played Ghana at the July 22nd Square cricket grounds in Banjul in which Ghana won the toss and elected to field.

Sierra Leone batted and scored 79 runs all out in 20 overs with M. Kamara batted and scored 14 runs. J. Kowa bowled and took 2 wickets for 5 runs in 4 overs bowled. 

Ghana batted in the second innings and scored 30 runs all out in 16.3 overs played. 

Sierra Leone won by 49 runs.

Gambia also played Mali at the MRC cricket grounds in Fajara and the toss was won by Mali and elected to bat and scored 54 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Aminata Diamoutene batted and scored 8 runs the highest for Mali with Youma Sangare bowling and taking 2 wickets for 9 runs in 2 overs bowled.

Gambia batted in the second innings and scored 55 runs for 6 wickets in 12.2 overs played.  Haddy Wally, Fatou Colley and Marie Rose Manga batted for them and scored 4 runs each the highest for Gambia.

Haddy Wally also bowled and took 2 wickets for 5 runs in 4 overs bowled. The Gambia won by 5 wickets.

Ghana played Mali at the July 22nd Square cricket grounds in Banjul and the toss was won by Ghana and elected to field.

Mali batted and scored 46 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. O. Sow batted and scored 14 runs the highest for Mali with O. Sow bowling and taking 2 wickets for 3 runs in 2 overs bowled. 

Ghana batted in the second innings and scored 47 runs all out in 13.5 overs played.

E.A. Otu batted for them and scored 14 runs the highest for Ghana. R.A. Ofori bowled and took 3 wickets for 2 runs in 4 overs bowled. Ghana won by 8 wickets.
