Sierra Leone at 50 rethinking our priorities

Apr 20, 2011, 3:10 PM

On behalf of the Sierra Leone National Union in the Gambia, I would like to wish all Sierra Leoneans a Happy 50th independence anniversary in advance.

As we are celebrating the 50 years anniversary, I want to bring to the notice of Sierra Leoneans that 50 years is not 50 months but its jubilee celebration.

On this note, I am kindly appealing to all Sierra Leoneans to put away our political and tribal differences and put our country first.

We should fly high the Green, White and Blue flag. I am also asking the different Sierra Leonean associations, organizations, cultural and political groups to come onboard with brilliant ideas towards the smooth running of this jubilee celebration. Let there be peace, love and unity among us to build a better Sierra Leone. Let’s forget the past and think of building a better Sierra Leone.

We want to extend our thanks to the Head of State of The Gambia and all Gambian nationals for accommodating us to this level. May God continue to shower his blessings on this land.

We are also thanking the Sierra Leone High Commission for their concern towards Sierra Leoneans.

May God bless us all.

John Alfred Sesay

Chairman, Sierra Leone National Union, The Gambia.
