Ben Wilson, who was Commissioner of West Coast Region, is now Gambia’s Inspector General of Police.

IGP Wilson started his security career as a military officer. He decided to leave the services and later worked for the US Embassy in Banjul.

From the US Embassy, he decided again to join the Gambia Police Force (GPF), and was serving as Commissioner of West Coast Region and later Commissioner of Operations, before his recent appointment as IGP.

He has replaced former IGP Yankuba Sonko, who was at the helm of affairs in the GPF from 2010 to 2014.

According to reliable sources, Sonko has been redeployed to the Ministry of Justice.

In similar vein, Ousman Gibba, who was deputy IGP, had his services terminated. Up the time of going to press, his replacement could not be confirmed.

Furthermore, Officer Landing Bojang, who was Commander of ‘Operation Bulldozer’, has been appointed Commissioner of Operations to replace Ben Wilson.
