School for Gambia donates to schools

In their drive to complement the government’s efforts in providing quality and relevant education in the country, School for Gambia, a charitable organisation based in Germany, Tuesday donated bicycles, second-hand clothes and learning materials to Fonkoi Kunda Lower Basic School and Kinteh Kunda Jannehya.

Speaking to this reporter, the marketing officer of the charitable organisation, Karl Heine Schweitzer, said the organisation was formed around 2000 with 30 members, but 15 of them are active in the day-to-day running of the organisation.

Schweitzer revealed that the organisation was formed to support students in The Gambia, adding that they are expecting office furniture from Germany that would be given to Fonkoi Kunda Lower Basic School and Kinteh Kunda Jannehya Lower Basic School

Schweitzer further stated that the donated materials were collected by the charity members in Germany, and donated to the schools and communities in The Gambia, including Farafenni in the North Bank Region.

He added that the charity also presented D1,600 to their sponsored students.

The beneficiaries thanked the School for Gambia for the timely gesture, noting that the support provided would aid the students to arrive in school on time.
