With his shooting boots on, one of Gambia’s young and sharp talents is once again on target for his new club CD SARINENA who were held at home in a tupsy-turvy 1-1 draw game on Saturday by a spirited REAL MADRID in the third tier of Spanish football (Segunda Division B - Group 2 ).

The Gambian International, who out played his markers in the opposition half, saw his 34th minute strike cancelled out moments after the break by Spanish midfielder Alvaro Just Medran.

The stalemate spoiled CD SARINENA’s hopes of coming out of their relegation shell after 26 league fixtures in a 20-team competition.

Meanwhile, since his free transfer switch from ZARAGOZA in August 2013, Gassama (20) has found first team football at CD SARINENA by playing deep and blossoming into a fearsome midfielder.

In 23 appearances, Gassama has started 15, provided 8 vital assists and so far found the net thrice. This is Gassama’s personal best moments in Spanish football career, epitomised by his undoubted and continued brilliance on the pitch.

In a brief chat with me, he admitted liking Spanish football and making positive strides since his move to CD SARINENA but refused to discuss his future as he opted to lie low for now and concentrate working hard.  Saihou Gassama, a former cadet team product for The Gambia is known for pulling the string and not to tie the knots in the middle of the ground. His last international call up for The Scorpions was on March 23, 2013 under Luciano Mancini against Ivory Coast.
