S/Africa FC beat Top Ranks FC in East Nawetaan qualifiers

South Africa FC recently beat Top Ranks FC by a goal to nil in the ongoing Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetaan Qualifiers played at the East-park.

The keenly-contested encounter, which attracted large crowd of supporters, saw South Africa dominating the first period of the game resulting into Kalifa Manjang scoring the only goal of the game for them in the 24th minute.

Manjang scored South Africa’s decider when he netted home from a superb shot that struck the stand bar and before finally hitting the net much to the satisfaction of his teammates.

South Africa’s hope of maintaining the momentum was dealt a severe blow when they were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Ensa Sanyang in the 48th minute for a second bookable offence.

Lamin Manga had a golden opportunity to level the score-line for Top Ranks FC in the 55th minute of the game but he failed to make the best use of the rare opportunity.

A minute later, skipper Ebrima Jadama also had a golden opportunity to double the lead for South Africa but he also failed to capitalise on his chance thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of South Africa.

The win means South Africa are through to the second round of the qualifiers, which is being played in a knockout format.

In the 3pm kickoff that same day, Promise Land FC defeated Banda Gi FC 2-1 to book their place to the second round of the qualifiers.

Alasan Sanyang and Dimingo Manneh scored Promise Land’s goals in the 15th and 62nd minutes, while Ebrima Njie netted Banda Gi’s consolation in the 36th minute of the game.

On Sunday 26 June 2011, in the 3pm encounter, Amsterdam FC beat Oeath Rock FC 2-1 to also advance to the second round of the qualifiers, while in the 5pm kickoff of the same day, Latrikunda United defeated T-Bantaba 1-nil to secure a place in the second round of the qualifiers.
