Period of forgiveness

Dec 31, 2012, 9:09 AM

As we have come to the end of the year 2012, it’s essential to remind all Gambians about the need for us all to forgive one another.

As we usher in the New Year 2013, forgiving each other for the past would form the basic foundation for any national unity and sustainable development in the future.

The year under review has been a very challenging year for the country with many big and serious things happening in the country.

We must learn to forgive others, which is something that is very much emphasized by our holy books, the Quran and Bible.

So, as believers, it would be best for anyone of us to think of all those who may one way or the other offend us, during the past 12 months, and think of forgiving them, in the name of the Almighty Allah.

To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace of mind and happiness.

The truth is that nearly everyone has been hurt by the actions or words of another person. These wounds can leave you with lasting feelings of anger, bitterness and even retaliation - but if you don’t practice forgiveness, you may be the one who pays most dearly.

We firmly believe that by embracing forgiveness, you embrace peace, hope, gratitude and joy and perhaps behaves like a true believer.

Meanwhile, at the national level, we must emphasize that there is a need to forgive those who might have hurt us in one way or the other; hence when we forgive, we grow bigger in spirit and mind.

Finally, we wish all our readers, subscribers and customers a happy New Year while praying for continued peace and stability in The Gambia.
