Officials of the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDEA) posted at Banjul International Airport have arrested a Nigerian after he disembarked from a plane flying from Nigeria.

John Agoh  was arrested after the operatives acted on an intelligence report that the suspect was engaged in drug trafficking, after several attempts to arrest him proved futile.

ASP Abdoulie Ceesay, public relations officer of the NDEA, told GRTS that upon arrival at the airport with Arik airlines, the suspect was arrested, interrogated and he denied having anything.

“He was then kept for sometime under observation and, after sometime, he then started to confess to the officers that he indeed swallowed some pellets of cocaine,” he said.

The suspect, according to NDEA operatives, was said to have swallowed 72 pellets of cocaine.

Investigation continues.
