New Niamina West chief sworn in

The newly-appointed chief of Niamina West district, Seyfo Ngai Dampha, was at the weekend sworn in at a colourful ceremony held at his home village of Pinai Mandinka in the Niamina West district of the Central River Region.

The inauguration ceremony was characterized by flag rising and oath of secrecy to assume his chieftaincy functions as head of the district as enshrined in the Local Government Act.

Seyfo Ngai Dampha was appointed as the head chief of Niamina following the termination of the former chief Yerro Gida Bah in March last year.

The swearing in ceremony was administered by the regional governor Alhaji Ganyie Touray, who congratulated him for his appointment and reminded of him of the huge task that lie on his shoulders.

Governor Touray assured the new chief of his fullest support in the realization of sustainable development of the district, region and nation as whole.

He asked the people of Niamina West to rally behind their new chief and give him the support to enable him carry out his duties effectively.

Chief Ngai Dampha after taking the oath promised to execute his duties without fear or favour, affection or ill-will, and that he will work in accordance with the Local Government Act.

The APRC constituency chairman, Alhaji Mahalima Ceesay, called on the people of Niamina West to remain united behind President Yahya Jammeh and the APRC party.

He said the local government elections are at the corner, and urged all to vote massively for the APRC sponsored candidates.

The ceremony was graced by the minister of Regional Administration, Lands and Traditional rulers, Momodou Aki Bayo, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lamin Jobarteh, CRR National Assembly Members, APRC National Mobilizer Yankuba Colley, National Women mobilizer, Aja Ndey Jatta, regional governors, chiefs, and hundreds of APRC party supporters.
