Thursday, March 11, 2010

The National Youth Parliament of The Gambia (NYP) is 8-years-old this week. To mark the day, the youth parliament will stage a stakeholder's forum, known as the Intergenerational Dialogue on Friday 12th March 2010.

According to information reaching the Youth Forum from NYP, the climax of the event will include a march-past from the July 22nd Square to the National Assembly Chambers in Banjul, where the programme proper will be held.

The theme of the forum is 'Invest in Young People for Sustainable Development' and is being supported by Elton Oil, Gambia Limited.

Tomorrow's event is aimed at advancing policy dialogue to promote youth financing and budgeting towards the full realisation of national development aspirations.

The forum is expected to be graced by representatives of the private sector, government officials, United Nations System in The Gambia, youth parliamentarians, CSOs and other youth organisations and leaders.

The National Youth Parliament of The Gambia is a youth representative network of seven regional parliaments across the country.

It aims among other things to promote and uphold the principle of good governance, democracy, youth development, as well as to inculcate responsible citizenship in the minds and hearts of young people, to enable them participate in national and international development processes.
