National Assembly To Elect Speaker Tomorrow

The Gambia's National Assembly will tomorrow, Wednesday 17th June 2009, elect the Speaker of the National Assembly to fill vacant seat of the Speaker, following the recent revocation of the former's nomination by President Jammeh.

According to a press release from the National Assembly, the second meeting of the National Assembly in 2009 legislative year will commence tomorrow at 5pm prompt. The meeting shall also witness the swearing-in ceremony of the nominated member, Mrs. Elizabeth Renner.

"The Assembly shall in the subsequent meetings also consider the ratification of loan agreements to be presented by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs."

"Bills shall also be presented before the National Assembly Members for consideration and enactment," the release stated.

"The general public is invited to attend the sitting of the National Assembly," it concludes.
