NAS FC mourn fallen colleague

NAS FC, a Nawettan football club in Gunjur Kombo South District, are mourning the sudden demise of their player Lamin Jawo, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 25.

Described by his club NAS as a great talent, Jawo was buried the same day of his demise in Brikama.

According to a statement from the NAS secretariat, Jawo was a strong, talented, determined,

discipline and fine goalkeeper, whose goalkeeping skills attracted a lot of fans within and outside Gunjur.

After setting off in active football in Salikerato in Gunjur at a tender age, Jawo also played for a host of Nawettan teams in Gunjur including the gigantic and mighty Ajax winning so many trophies for them along the way.

He also had spells with Arsenal FC, and GEPADG FC before finally switching allegiance to NAS FC two years ago with some fantastic achievements to be ever remembered.

He represented Gunjur in many competitions home and away.

“Jawo’s legacy in football will continue to be talked about by the fanatic followers of the young prodigy, who was once regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in Gunjur football.

The late Jawo is described by his club as one of the friendly players one could have met on the pitch.

“Although he died so young, his wonderful contributions in the clubs he played for would never be forgotten.”

“We will continue to remember him like a hero because that is what he is,” a statement from his former club said.
