As he Allegedly Threatens To Kill Her

One Awa Ceesay, an elderly woman last Friday 4th September 2009, testified before Magistrate Sanneh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court against her son, one Alex Gassama, whom she said had threatened to kill her.

In her testimony, she told the court that she lives in Serrekunda and recognised the accused person as her own son.

She stated that on 20th August, 2009 as she was praying, she had her son shouting. She adduced that another son of hers, Matarr came and asked her whether she heard his elder brother shouting, but she told Matarr not to mind him (the accused) because he is his elder brother.

She further narrated that people came to the scene while the accused was still shouting and insulting. She stated that she later went back to her house when the accused knocked at the gate. But she said when he got in he asked for her, but he was told that she had gone to Bakoteh. She added that the accused did not believe that she had gone to Bakoteh.

She further stated that she then decided to make herself available to the accused who again insulted her.

She indicated that she was shocked down, and as a result she could not have her dinner. She further testified that the accused was at the time holding a bottle of alcohol which he poured on her. She went on to say that the following day the accused threatened to kill her, and to set the compound on fire.

She concluded by saying that one of her children reported the matter to the Serrekunda Police Station, who got him arrested.

The case was adjourned to 11th September 2009 for continuation.
