Mayor Trophy Staged for Weekend in Banjul

As nawettan football is seemingly apparent, the Banjul Sports Committee is set to stage the super cup brand in Banjul as the Mayorial trophy that serves as curtain raiser to the nawettan proper.

The mayor trophy which will showcase the official opening of the nawettan, will feature the league champions and the Knockout champions that is between Ngoyan and Plumbi FC scheduled for this Saturday 18th 2009, at Gambia Senior Secondary School.

This finale will start the official beginning of 2009 nawettan season in Banjul where 25 teams will compete while divided into 4 groupings, each group comprises 6 teams except one group with 7 teams.

While Glouster, One Love, Lancaster and Elminite both teams have secured places in the nawettan proper from the qualifiers. These four teams secured their admittance in the top flight football in Banjul following four weeks of intensive qualifying games.
