Man Pleads Guilty For Raping Seven-Year-Old Girl

A man yesterday pleaded guilty to the charges of rape at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

Karim Camara accepted full responsibility for raping a seven-year-old girl (name withheld).

According to the charge sheet, Mr. Camara on 25th May 2009, at Latirkunda German, unlawfully had a carnal knowledge of a seven-year-old girl without her consent.

However, Mr. Camara told the court that it was the girl who consented to have carnal knowledge of her when she came to his workshop.

The Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Fadera, informed the court that the case file was sent to the Attorney General's Chambers for further advice.

Magistrate Basiru Mahoney then adjourned the case until the 18th June 2009, and remanded the accused in custody.
