Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted one Abdoulie Sinyan, after he admitted to the offence of stealing a motor vehicle.
Sinyan was convicted and sentenced on count one to a mandatory jail term of one year in prison, and was also ordered to pay a compensation of D103, 800 in default to serve another one year six months in prison.
The compensation was to be paid on or before June 2015.
The sentences are to run consecutively.
According to the particulars of offence in count one, Abdoulie Sinyan, within the months of May and June 2014, at Bakau and diverse places in the Kanifing Municipality, stole a motor vehicle marked Renault 21 valued at D28,000, the property of one Mbye Njie.
Count two stated that within the months of February and March 2014, at Jalang Fara Motel, in Kololi, in the Kanifing Municipality, he stole D75,000 from the said Mbye Njie.
