Fatou Darboe of the Kanifing magistrates’ court recently convicted and
sentenced one Bai Ndow, after he was found guilty of common assault and
criminal trespass.
He was on count one fined D1,500 in default to serve three weeks in prison, and on count two he was fined D1,000 in default to serve another three weeks in prison.
The convict in his plea of mitigation begged the court for mercy.
The charge sheet on count one read that on 4 May 2014, at Sanchaba in the Kanifing Municipality, Bai Ndow assaulted one Sarjo Faye by slapping her on her face.
Count two read that he unlawfully entered the house of Sarjo Faye with intent to intimidate, insult or annoy her.
