A man called Amadou Tijan Barry was on Monday brought before Magistrate Ngube of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing.

Barry accepted the charge and was ordered to pay D4,000 within two months, after pleading to the court that he was a first-time offender and that he would never do it again.

He told the court he had been working for somebody for so long without being paid and then later moved to Mr Samuel Emuh’s work shop.

Even after working for Samuel for a long time, he was still not paid, he added.

Barry revealed that when he started suffering from muscle pains and needed money to treat himself, he decided to sell the said items to get some treatment.

He said he sold the barbing machines at D300, which could have cost D700.

According to the particulars of offence, Amadou Tijan Barry, in June 2011, at Serrekunda, in the Kanifing Municipality, stole the following items from the house of one Samuel Emuh: two barbing machines, one shaping stone and six pairs of clipper-blades, all valued at D4, 000, the property of the said Samuel Emuh.
