Man arraigned for cheating

One Elimab Joof was recently arraigned before Magistrate Secka of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with cheating.

According to the charge sheet, on 17th August 2010, at Serrekunda market in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused, Eliman Joof by using fraudulent device tampered with the scaling machine and obtained from one Dodou Gomez, the sum of D200, being the sale of two kilos and a half kilos of meat and bone which quantity was in fact one and a half kilos.

Meanwhile, the accused, Eliman Joof who pleaded not guilty to the charge was granted court bail in the sum of D10, 000, with a Gambian surety who must deposit a national ID card. The case was adjourned to 7th September 2010 for continuation.
