Tuesday, May 19, 2009

One Dawda Bojang, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, is appealing against the sentence at the Banjul High Court before Justice Joseph Wowo.

The appellant, Dawda Bojang, was sentenced along with Kawsu Jarju to life imprisonment by the Kanifing Magistrates' Court after being found guilty for killing Ron Fond, a British national.

At yesterday's hearing of the appeal case brought by the appellant Dawda Bojang, the presiding Judge, Justice Joseph Wowo, told the court that there was no record of proceedings in the court file.

Lawyer R Y Mendy, representing the appellant Dawda Bojang, told the court that the record of proceedings had been sent to the court but she was yet to be served with the same.

State counsel Shanaka for his part also told the court that the State was not yet served with the record of proceedings.

The case was adjourned to 5th June 2009.
