Lamin Kaba Bajo was elected President of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) at the extra-ordinary congress held at Paradise Suites Hotel on Saturday 20th September 2014.
Kaba Bajo secured 28 votes beating Buba Mbye Bojang by 5 votes, after Omar Danso announced his withdrawal from the contest, prior to the voting process.
Danso said he submitted his withdrawal from the election to the Secretary General of the GFF in the morning of the election day.
The legal adviser for the Normalisation Committee, Legenju Vitalis, then put it to Danso that Saturday is not a working day for the GFF, and that his withdrawal was late.
All the other positions, including the posts of vice presidents in the GFF executive bureau, were filled unopposed by members of Bajo’s team.
Consequently, the following persons were also elected to the new GFF Executive Bureau: Abdoulie Star Jallow as first vice president, Ebou Faye as second vice president, Martin Gomez as third vice president, Alagie Faye and Adama Lowe as co-opted members Sainabou Cham and Mam Lisa Camara as nominated members.
