KWAJAH ability inter-school championship kicks-off

KWAJAH Ability Inter-School Championship yesterday kicked-off at the Saint Jonh's School for the Deaf.

The championship, which is organised for students of Saint John's School, features different sporting categories, such as football and athletics.

The football which was at semi-final stage saw Comer Kunda defeating Touray Kunda 2-1 to collect their first win, courtesy of goals from Bakary Mendy and Kebba Manneh, while Babucarr Jallow scored his side's consolation.

Also, in the male category, Jatta Kunda defeated Gordron Kunda on penalty shoot-out after the normal play of time ended 1-1.

Lamin Fofana scored Jatta Kunda's goal, while Ismalia Badjie netted in Gordron Kunda goal.

In the female category, Touray Kunda defeated Comer Kunda by 3-1 on penalty shoot-out after the regular play of time ended 0-0.

On the same day at the Saint John's School for the Deaf playing ground, Jatta Kunda defeated Gordron Kunda by 3-1.

Jatta Kunda goals were scored by Monica Sanyang and Alimatou Sanneh, who scored two goals, while Gordron Kunda's consolation goal was scored by Amie Demba.

Comer Kunda will now face Jatta Kunda in the final of the championship on Wednesday 31st March 2010 in the male category.

In the female category, Touray Kunda will battle it out with Jatta Kunda in the final on the same day.

Today Tuesday 30th March 2010 will feature the athletics and games championship of the inter-school competition.

Speaking before the kick-off of the championship, the principal of the school, Daniel Mendy encouraged the students and urged them to go by the rules and regulations of the game.

Talib Hydara, the Public Relations Officer of KWAJAH Ability, said the aims and objectives of the inter-school are to promote, develop, improve and bring disabled people into sports, to showcase their talents.
