Reports reaching The Point from Central River Region state that two more suspects have been arrested, making a total of five, in connection with the murder of the Imam of Kuntaur.

Sources said so far the five arrested are: Titi Sawaneh from Niamina Bani, Amadou Gaye of Kuntaur who is the president of the Niani Fishermen's Association, Banna Sillah from Kuntaur Jakaba, a man reported to have once had a bitter disagreement with the late Imam, Balla Conteh and Ms Kadja Conteh.

Amadou Jallow was reported to have been stabbed sixteen times over his body as he was preparing to go and lead the early morning prayers at the mosque, thus resulting in his untimely death.

According to Fatou Sal, wife of the late Imam Jallow, some days before the fateful day, her late husband has been complaining of receiving text messages threatening to kill him.

She explained that on that fateful morning, her husband woke up and heard a knock at the door at a time when it was raining heavily, and upon opening the door, he was attacked, sprayed before being stabbed.

The incident, which has sparked serious concerns within the region, is said to have followed a prolonged Imamship crisis in the village of Kuntaur.
