The 2015 Kombo South district football tournament final between Kartong and Tanji ended in stalemate at the Sanyang Football Field on Saturday.

The weekend’s final match was the first-ever meeting between Kartong and Tanji in the annual Kombo South district football gala final after both clubs respectively eliminated Tujereng and Nyofelleh in the semifinals.

Kartong were beaten in the Kombo South district football tournament final twice: against Sanyang 2-0 in 2000, with the final match played at the Jambanjelly football field; and against Farato on penalties in 2008, with the final game played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School football field.

Tanji lost to Sifoe 1-0 in the 2014 Kombo South district football final played at the Jambanjelly football field.

The much-awaited Kombo South district biggest football final, which saw an excellent exhibition of skills and panache, attracted spectators from the district and its satellite areas for the crunch clash but the regulation time failed to produce a winner.

The beach boys dominated majority of ball possession and created some goal-scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on them.

The Folonko boys, who were unable to establish themselves well in the game, also created few goal-scoring opportunities but also failed to utilize them thus the game ended in stalemate.
