The Gambia Immigration Department opened their 2009 NISA campaign by outclassing Armed Forces 2-1 on Saturday at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The opening of the 7th edition of the National Inter-departmental Tournament witnessed a spectacular display from Gambia Immigration Department who proved too strong for the Military Boys.

The Armed Forces werepunished for their failure to capitalise on the numerous scoring opportunities wasted by their strikers when Janko Sanneh fired home the opener a few minutes after the interval. Within the twinkle of an eye, he drilled home a brilliant close range strike to the jubilation of the spectators.

Last year's finalists, Armed Forces did all they could to at least level the score but their hopes  were dashed in the dying minute of the game when star player Musa Saidy doubled his sides advantage to earn  the immigration squad all the vital 3 points.

Major General Lang Tombong  Tamba, president of the National Inter-departmental Sports Association, in his opening remarks called on participating teams to exercise discipline  as the main objective of the tournament is to foster and strengthen a cordial relationship between participating teams.

He expressed satisfaction at the massive turnout of participants and believed that this year's championship will be a successful one.

In an exhibition game played earlier as part of the 7th edition, a NISA selection thrashed the Scorpions Fans Club 3-0.
